Family Bathroom Upgrade

Family Bathroom Upgrade

The Client Brief

We completed this project for a returning customer who had previously designed and installed an ensuite with our team and was now looking to update their outdated bathroom. They wanted to keep a bath in the family bathroom and make a feature of the area while creating a future-proofed, low-level access shower.

When designing their walk-in shower, the client wanted to match the remote shower fitted in their previous ensuite as they trusted its capabilities and qualities from the initial installation.

Storage was a critical component of this design as the client wanted a clutter-free bathroom with the ability to hide away those everyday items and bulk bathroom toiletries. Due to the size of this large bathroom, full tiling for the wall and floor was also decided as the best option.

  • Designer: Chris
  • Average Cost: £££
  • Project Type: Supply & Install
  • Turn Around Time: 2 Weeks

Brands Used

  • Bath: Waters Baths of Ashbourne
  • Sanitaryware Laufen
  • Shower: Dansani Vanity Units
  • Shower Enclosure: Arysto
  • Tiles: Porcelanosa
  • Stainless Steel Radiators: JIS
  • Brassware: Vado
  • Mirror: HIB
  • Underfloor Heating: Warm Up
  • Accessories: Bathroom Origins

The Solution:

The final installation included a centrally focused back to wall bath at the rear of the bathroom under a large window. Feature tiling was fitted behind the bath to break up the size of the room while keeping the design and style consistent. We also recommended a deck mounted bath shower mixer with a hidden shower hose.

For the shower, a low profile slate shower tray was fitted flush with the floor to allow for easy access to future proof the bathroom. Although not a wetroom, we also advised that a single panel shower screen was added to allow for good accessibility along with a high level of water protection. It was with guidance and previous experience that the client opted for an Aqualisa remote digital shower with an overhead riser system.

To complete the bathroom, we installed a wall-mounted large basin unit with matching tall storage for everyday essentials combined with a sizeable illuminated mirror cabinet. Finally, the bathroom was complete with large formatted ceramic tiles from Porcelanosa tiled horizontally to elongate the room with a smaller format floor tile to assist with the installation of the required underfloor heating.
